Training & Support

Grow With Us. Deliver Outstanding Care.

Training at Obsidian Homecare goes beyond compliance. We equip every nurse, carer, and support worker with the skills and confidence to deliver safe, specialist, and person-centred complex care. From tracheostomy management to behavioural support, our programmes are designed to build expertise step by step — backed by mentorship, clinical supervision, and 24/7 support.

Whether you’re an experienced professional or developing your career, we provide the tools, training, and guidance to help you thrive — while ensuring every client receives the highest standard of care.

What We Expect – Premium Standards

We work only with Ireland’s top-tier care professionals.

Our teams are made up of nurses, healthcare assistants, and specialist support staff who bring both compassion and proven clinical competence. Every professional must be fully qualified — from NMBI-registered nurses to QQI Level 5 HCAs — and trained in specialist areas such as tracheostomy, ventilator care, PEG feeding, seizure protocols, and behaviours of concern.

By maintaining premium standards, we ensure that everyone who joins Obsidian Homecare is equipped to deliver safe, consistent, and world-class complex care.

For Healthcare Assistants (HCAs)

HCAs are essential to making complex care work in the home. You’ll provide day-to-day support and assist with clinical care under nurse supervision. We look for HCAs who are:

✓ Qualified with a QQI Level 5 Major Award in Healthcare Support
✓ Skilled in personal care, mobility, nutrition, and daily routines
✓ Trained or willing to train in PEG support, seizure monitoring, and medication assistance (under nurse direction)
✓ Confident in working 1:1 or 2:1 in high-dependency packages

For Specialist Support Staff

Specialist support staff play a key role in intellectual disability, autism, and mental health care packages. You’ll deliver structured behavioural support, encourage independence, and promote social inclusion. We look for staff who are:

✓ Experienced in autism, intellectual disability, or mental health support
✓ Skilled in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies and behaviours of concern
✓ Confident in communication, social participation, and emotional wellbeing
✓ Able to work alongside nurses and HCAs in dual-diagnosis or high-support environments

For Nurses

As a nurse with Obsidian Homecare, you’ll be at the centre of every complex care package. You’ll deliver advanced clinical interventions and provide leadership for the care team. We look for nurses who are:

✓ Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
✓ Confident in tracheostomy, ventilation, PEG feeding, seizure protocols, and complex medication management
✓ Experienced in paediatric, adult, or high-dependency nursing
✓ Comfortable leading care plans, supervising HCAs, and working with families

“Working with Obsidian Homecare means being part of a team that goes beyond the basics. Every placement is nurse-led, fully supported, and built to the highest safety standards — so you can focus on delivering complex care with confidence.”
